We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your data to comply with Apple App Store and Google Play Store requirements.

1. Information We Collect

To provide our core services, we collect the following types of information:

Camera Access: We request camera access solely to scan product barcodes. We do not record video, take photos of you, or upload images from your camera roll to our servers. The camera is only used to extract the barcode text string.
Approximate Location Data: With your permission, we request "While in Use" location access and attach your approximate location (accurate to within roughly a city block) to scan events. We use this to understand where products are scanned, build aggregate scan-location insights, and improve regional product coverage. Location is read only at the moment of a scan while the app is open — we never track your location in the background. If you deny location permission, scanning continues to work normally and no coordinates are collected.
Account Information: When you sign up, we collect basic profile information (like your name and email) via our secure authentication provider (Clerk).
Dietary Preferences & Scan History: To personalize your experience, we save your selected dietary profiles (e.g., Halal, Gluten-Free, Vegan) and a history of the barcodes you have scanned to your cloud profile.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your data exclusively to:

Provide, operate, and maintain the Dalylo app.
Analyze ingredients against your personal dietary preferences.
Allow you to view your recent scans across different devices.
Monitor app performance and catch crashes to improve user experience.

3. Third-Party Services

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with secure, industry-standard service providers necessary to run the app:

Clerk: For secure user authentication and identity management.
Supabase: For secure database hosting (storing your profile and scan history).
PostHog: For product analytics to help us understand which app features are being used and to catch software bugs. Scan events — including the scanned product, your active dietary preferences, and (with your permission) your approximate location — are sent to PostHog for aggregate behavioral insights.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

You have the right to your data. Your profile and scan history are retained as long as your account is active. You may request the deletion of your account and all associated data at any time from the Profile screen of the app, or by contacting us.

5. Children

Dalylo is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
